Mark J. Gabrielson
President & CEO of Ore Pharmaceutical Holdings Inc. Mark joined the Ore Board of Directors in 2007 and assumed the roles of President and CEO in March, 2009. Prior to joining Ore, he was Managing General Partner of p-Value Capital LLC, a financial services firm focused on structured investments in biopharmaceutical products. Mark was co-founder and CEO of Pulamtrix Inc. a private venture capital-backed company he launched in 2003 with scientists from Harvard University and MIT to develop products for respiratory infectious diseases. He is currently on the Board of Directors at Pulmatrix. From 1990 until 2003 Mark was a General Partner of Prince Ventures LP, a life sciences-focused venture capital firm. The firm’s portfolio included Genentech, Applied Biosystems, Centocor, Regeneron, Inhale Therapeutic Systems and other noteworthy companies. From 1978 to 1990, Mark held a series of roles in product management, business development and general management with SmithKline Corporation (now GlaxoSmithKline), including marketing oversight of a pharmaceutical business unit with over $1 billion in annual revenues. He holds an AB from Princeton University.
G. Anthony Gorry, Ph.D.
Friedkin Professor of Management & Professor of Computer Science, Rice University Dr. Gorry has served as a Director since January 1997. Since prior to March 2001, Dr. Gorry has been the Friedkin Professor of Management and Professor of Computer Science at Rice University, where he also serves as the Director of the Center for Technology in Teaching and Learning. Dr. Gorry directs a training grant on computational biology funded by the National Library of Medicine. He is also Adjunct Professor of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Gorry holds a BEng from Yale University, an MS in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a PhD in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
J. Stark Thompson, Ph.D.
Chairman of the Board, Ore Pharmaceutical Holdings Inc. Dr. Thompson has been non-executive Chairman of the Board of Ore since November 2004 and has served as a director since February 2002. From 1988 until his retirement in November 2000, Dr. Thompson served as the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Life Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: LTEK), a developer, manufacturer and supplier of products and services for life science research. Life Technologies, Inc. was acquired by Invitrogen in July 2000 for $1.9 billion. Prior to joining Life Technologies, Inc., he spent twenty one years in roles of increasing responsibility with DuPont Company, including several years as Business Director for the company’s Clinical Systems Division. Dr. Thompson currently serves on the Boards of Naurex Inc and MaxCyte Inc., two privately-held companies. Dr. Thompson received a BS degree from Muskingum College and MSc and PhD degrees in Physiological Chemistry from the Ohio State University.
David L. Urdal, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President & Chief Scientific Officer, Dendreon Corp. Dr. Urdal was appointed Director in April 2007. Dr. Urdal is the Chief Scientific Officer of Dendreon Corporation, a biotechnology company developing targeted therapies for cancer. Previously, he served as Dendreon’s President from January 2001 to December 2003 and as its Executive Vice President from January 1999 through December 2000. From 1982 until July 1995, Dr. Urdal held various positions with Immunex Corporation, including President of Immunex Manufacturing Corporation, Vice President and Director of Development, and Head of the departments of biochemistry and membrane biochemistry. Dr. Urdal received a PhD in Biochemical Oncology from the University of Washington.
